Developing Staff
Professional pathways for every stage of a career
Great schools invest in their people. ESP helps British international schools develop, qualify and retain talented staff through high-quality professional learning, recognised qualifications and specialist support designed for the international context.
From developing Teaching Assistants and supporting aspiring teachers to statutory ECT induction and professional development for more experienced practitioners, our programmes provide a clear pathway through every stage of a colleague’s career.
Delivered in partnership with universities, Department for Education-accredited providers, experienced school leaders and internationally recognised education experts, our programmes combine the best of British education with a practical understanding of schools operating worldwide.
Develop talent from within your school
Our school-based routes to Qualified Teacher Status enable talented colleagues to gain recognised professional status without leaving their current international school.
The PGCE iQTS provides aspiring and developing teachers with a comprehensive programme of academic study, professional training and supported classroom practice. For experienced teachers who already meet the Teachers’ Standards, the Assessment Only Route offers a focused pathway to QTS through assessment in their current school.
By creating opportunities for colleagues to train and qualify in school, you can strengthen teaching capacity, improve retention and build a sustainable pipeline of future talent.
Give Early Career Teachers the strongest possible start
ESP is the Department for Education’s sole specialist Appropriate Body for statutory ECT induction in DfE-accredited British Schools Overseas.
We support schools, ECTs, mentors, induction tutors and leaders throughout the induction process, providing specialist guidance, statutory assurance, quality assurance and responsive professional support.
Our dedicated ECT CPD Programme complements statutory induction with practical, evidence-informed learning covering classroom practice, assessment, safeguarding, inclusion, wellbeing and successful completion of induction. We also provide specialist development for ECT mentors, helping them build the skills required to support, challenge and develop teachers at the beginning of their careers.
For teachers who are not currently able to undertake statutory induction, our Recently Qualified Teacher Programme offers structured professional development aligned with the English Teachers’ Standards.
Recognise and develop the contribution of your support staff
Teaching Assistants make an essential contribution to learning, inclusion, behaviour and pupil progress.
The TA Excellence Programme gives schools a sustainable way to strengthen their impact. It combines a comprehensive, ready-to-deliver TA Toolkit with online development for an appointed TA Development Lead, enabling schools to deliver consistent and practical professional learning internally.
The programme builds confidence and expertise, raises the profile of support staff and creates lasting professional development capacity across the school.
