The Association of British Schools Overseas (AoBSO) is the only membership association officially recognised by the UK Department for Education exclusively for the leaders of DfE accredited British Schools Overseas.

Led by school leaders, for school leaders, AoBSO champions excellence in British international education and represents the collective voice of BSO-accredited schools at the highest levels in the UK and worldwide. Its direct engagement with policymakers enables the Association to influence policy, shape sector wide conversations and ensure the experience and priorities of BSO leaders are heard.

AoBSO brings together an ambitious global community in which leaders connect, collaborate and share outstanding pedagogical, safeguarding and leadership practice. British Schools in the Middle East (BSME) is a leading association connecting and supporting a vibrant network of British international schools across the Middle East.

BSME supports its member schools through extensive professional learning, leadership conferences, thriving professional networks and opportunities for regional collaboration. It promotes high standards of educational provision, supports schools pursuing BSO accreditation and represents members’ interests through engagement with governments, regulators and key international education stakeholders.

COBIS represents the interests of British international schools through engagement with the UK Government, education authorities and sector organisations.

The Federation of British International Schools in Asia (FOBISIA) is a membership organisation connecting British international schools across Asia. Its members share a commitment to educational excellence, professional collaboration and delivering high-quality British education within diverse international contexts.

FOBISIA supports teachers, leaders and other school professionals through conferences, professional development, webinars and support networks. These opportunities enable colleagues to exchange effective practice, strengthen professional expertise and respond collectively to the opportunities and challenges facing British international schools across the region.

Safeguarding and safer recruitment are also important elements of FOBISIA’s work. The Safeguarding Alliance is a specialist safeguarding organisation committed to raising standards, strengthening professional practice and embedding a culture of safeguarding excellence across organisations and sectors. Its work is founded on the principle that every child, young person and adult at risk has the right to live, learn and participate free from harm, abuse and neglect.

The Safeguarding Alliance provides training, consultancy, audits, membership support, research and safeguarding curriculum resources. Its contextual approach helps organisations move beyond compliance by identifying risk, strengthening governance and embedding safeguarding throughout operational and strategic practice.

Within education, The Safeguarding Alliance works with schools, leaders, governors and safeguarding professionals to develop knowledge, improve safer recruitment and create robust, proactive safeguarding cultures.
